GROWTH PROJECTS
Both Lubembe and Kinsenda are located in southern Katanga province and within a few kilometers of the Zambian border, occurring along a north west orientated trend between the border towns of Mokambo and Kasumbalesa..
The Kinsenda mine is a brownfields site consisting of an existing mine, and is located 20km to the east of Kasumbalesa. The project comprises a copper sulphide ore body that was mined between 1977 and 2002 which exhausted developed reserves to 285 metres below surface. Known mineralization extends to 585 metres below surface. It is currently the focus of a bankable feasibility study [‘BFS’] to bring the mine back into production.
The Lubembe deposit is a greenfields site 25 kilometres south of Kinsenda, and is located less than 1 kilometre from the border with Zambia. Lubembe has the potential of developing into a large, mixed copper oxide / sulphide open cast
The Musonoi project is a greenfields site situated in the highly prospective Kolwezi Klippe structure of the Congolese Copperbelt. The Dilala East deposit is located a few kilometres to the east of the large KOV and Musonoi Principal open pits, and the Kamoto underground mine in Kolwezi, and has the potential to become a copper/cobalt underground mine. |
