OPERATIONS AND NEW PROJECTS

Ruashi is a new copper and cobalt mine located near Lubumbashi in the Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The mine comprises of three open pits and a modern solvent extraction electrowinning processing plant.

Chibuluma is a modern mechanised underground copper mine situated west of Kitwe near the town of Kalulushi in Zambia. The mine produces copper concentrate which is sold to smelters.

Sable Zinc is located near the town of Kabwe in Zambia. The operation comprises of a modern solvent extraction electrowinning plant and an acid plant. The operation purchases third party ores and produces copper cathode and cobalt concentrate.

Metorex has three prospective base metal growth projects located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. These are the Dilala East, Kinsenda and Lubembe projects.

The Dilala East project is a greenfields site situated in the highly prospective Kolwezi Klippe structure of the Congolese Copperbelt.  The Dilala East deposit is located a few kilometres to the east of the large KOV and Musonoi Principal open pits, and the Kamoto underground mine in Kolwezi, and has the potential to become a copper/cobalt underground mine.

Both Lubembe and Kinsenda are located in southern Katanga province and within a few kilometers of the Zambian border, occurring along a north west orientated trend between the border towns of Mokambo and Kasumbalesa.

The Kinsenda mine is a brownfields site consisting of an existing mine, and is located 20km to the east of Kasumbalesa.  The project comprises a copper sulphide ore body that was mined between 1977 and 2002 which exhausted developed reserves to 285 metres below surface. Known mineralization extends to 585 metres below surface and a bankable feasibility study is being undertaken to develop a modern mechanised underground mine and concentrator.

The Lubembe deposit is a greenfields site 25 kilometres south of Kinsenda, and is located less than 1 kilometre from the border with Zambia.  Lubembe has the potential of developing into a large, mixed copper oxide / sulphide open cast mine.

Consolidated Murchison is an underground antimony and gold mine situated at Gravelotte in the Limpopo province of South Africa.
